Brew Tea Like a Pro
Measuring your tea leaves is always the first step in brewing tea. If you underestimate the weight of your tealeaves, the tea will taste watery. Too many tealeaves and your tea will taste bitter. Either way, you end up wasting tea and hard earned cash!
For Western Style Brewing, the perfect cup of tea uses 3 grams of dried tea leaves for every 6-8 ounces of water. Many tea retailers will tell you to approximate the weight of your tealeaves by using teaspoons, but in the world of specialty tea, using teaspoons really doesn't measure up.
Two teaspoons of large, unfurled leaves will weigh considerably less than two teaspoons of dense, compact leaves. The only way to be truly accurate is to weigh your leaves using a scale that is accurate at small weights. Like this scale!
