Two big events happened last Sunday- The Grand Opening of the Marche Créole Community Market and the first farmers market appearance for Leaf & Bean.
Leaf & Bean has been looking to break into the New Orleans farmers market scene since we first went online. Once our tea inventory came in, it was just a matter of finding the right fit. Cue the Marche Créole Community Market.
Marche Créole is a community market in the heart of Broadmoor that seeks to improve sustainability by connecting the residents to farmers and local food producers while providing a safe community space to unite and support local businesses and artists. When we first saw their Facebook page we knew that we had to reach out to them. The staff was super friendly and supportive and within a few days of communication we were on the roster. We could not have been more excited.
We brought 16 different types of tea for people to look at, smell, taste, and go home with. Our biggest hits were Moonlight Jasmine and Russian Caravan. People kept coming back for second and even third infusions. We also brought our own signature drink, "The Houji Mama," which is a sweet and refreshing blend of hand squeezed lemonade and Houjicha iced tea. The natural sweet and nutty flavor profiles of the Houjicha make it an ideal tea to cold brew and blend with citrus.
We had a blast talking tea and making drinks for the Broadmoor community. Thanks again to the people at Marche Créole and the Heritage Foundation for Arts for giving us the opportunity to be part of the next big farmers market. Catch us again next Sunday, December 11 from 10:00am-2:00pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
